NORTON CALLS ON CONGRESS TO WAIT FOR COST ESTIMATE BEFORE VOTING ON OBAMACARE
(CENTENNIAL) – US Senate candidate Jane Norton today questioned how Congress can vote on a government healthcare takeover when lawmakers have no idea how much President Obama’s new plan will cost.
“Appointed Senator Michael Bennet voted last Christmas Eve on a government healthcare takeover despite having no idea how much the bill would cost Colorado families,” commented Norton. “The appointed Senator owes the citizens of this state a thorough vetting of the President’s healthcare takeover this time around, including full knowledge of its costs."

NORTON RESPONDS TO CBO DEBT REPORT
(CENTENNIAL) – US Senate candidate Jane Norton today responded to a report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimating that President Barack Obama’s budget plan will increase the national debt by more than $9.7 trillion over the next 10 years.
“President Obama is passing the buck – 9.7 trillion of them – to future generations of Americans,” commented Norton. “This president is completely disconnected from the fiscal realities facing this nation, and his policies threaten to bankrupt the United States.”

NORTON ENCOURAGES CONGRESS TO REFORM HEALTHCARE ONE STEP AT A TIME
(CENTENNIAL) – US Senate candidate Jane Norton today urged Congressional leaders to address healthcare reform in a series of steps rather than in a single 2,400-page piece of legislation.
“Here in the Centennial State, lawmakers are bound by a single-subject rule, which prohibits a bill from addressing more than one issue,” commented Norton. “They should adopt a single-subject rule in Washington, and a single-subject approach on healthcare reform would go a long way toward restoring the public’s faith in the process.”

NORTON TOUTS INTERSTATE COMPETITION AS A HEALTHCARE ALTERNATIVE
(CENTENNIAL) – US Senate candidate Jane Norton today offered another alternative proposal to President Barack Obama’s government healthcare takeover: allowing interstate sale of health insurance as an alternative to the so-called “public option.”
“Appointed Senator Bennet and others continually mention the importance of competition in bringing down healthcare costs, but they ignore the simplest answer to that question,” commented Norton. “The government can’t create competition, it can only allow or restrict it. De facto price controls implemented through a government insurance company are no substitute for real competition – the kind only interstate markets can deliver.”
